Very Old Lock

I went dirt digging to this old spot that I always love to go to, I need help iding the year on this old lock it has some nice detail on it im going to try to clean it just a little bit more thanks

Ah man that's a beauty.. I love old locks I still have one I need to clean the rest of the way it reminds me of yours a little.
I would take a guess and say yours should be late 1800's to early 19 hundreds maybe around ww1 era but no more

Looks like an old smokehouse lock to me, somewhat similar to these. .

That is a shame. It's an old "story" lock. It's known as one of the scroll locks, due to the scroll work that would have been very obvious on the entire exterior. Dates from 1880's - 1900ish.
