I am on vacation in Bradenton, Florida and was detecting on Holmes Beach on Santa Maria Island this evening before returning to our room. A local tv news crew came up to me and wanted to do some filming with me. I hadn't found much except some junk jewelry and some clad, but he wanted to show me something to see if I ever found anything like it. It was prosthetic ear. He asked what I would do if I found one and I replied I would try to get it back to the owner. Then they followed me around filming me detecting for the next 15 minutes. We will watch tv8 news tonight to see if it made the news. The ear was a picture he had on his smart phone.Update.If you want a laugh, you can go to WFLA channel8 on the net and find the clip and story about the prosthetic ear.

was he missing an ear??

It was a photo he had on his smart phone. We just saw a clip that will be on tonight, and it looks like I get my 30 seconds of glory. Lol.

And a Star is become!!! Congrats!!!!

Looking forward to hearing which detector and settings work best for prosthetic ears.

Missing ear on the beach....Gotta love Florida!

Now that’s a new one. I’ve heard lots of weird stories metal detecting but that tops them all.

What did the ear look like? Was it a Van Gogh?

But did you look into the camera, point, and say "subscribe to treasurenet.com"?

Haha you’re gonna be famous! We all know you found many gold rings and are unwilling to cough up your spot on TV ;)

Just saw a HLN Weekend Express story on a prosthetic ear recovered in Florida. Kept waiting for them to show you detecting, but you didn't make the national news. Had to be the same story, can't be too many missing ears in Florida!

"Well, this was no boating accident, and it wasn't Jack the Ripper. It was a shark. But more importantly, was the prosthetic ear found by a guy with a metal detector, and if so, what brand of metal detector was it? I'm thinking about buying metal detector." :laughing7:

Your a movie star lol

If I found it, I’d run home, rinse it off and put it right on the “what is it” thread, like any other sane person

Question is, what tones would the prosthetic ear hear when your' metal detector hit on it as the target?:tongue3::laughing7:

Congrats on your new career! :icon_thumleft:
