This odd ceramic shard was recovered from low tide of a tidal river last week East of New York City by a friend. There appears to be some written language on it (almost resembling runes). The piece is approximately palm-sized. :dontknow: Anyone care to provide info on age, origin use?

Thanks, DCMatt. Yeah, I've never seen anything like it. I'm surprised none of my old friends have weighed in on this thing. No one's ever seen anything like it?
