IMG_0885 (2).webpIMG_0886 (2).webpFound this detecting at my nearby Victorian Era dumping grounds and am hoping someone can identify what it might be and how it might of been used. It is about 18 inches wide. Hanging by the center loop it is perfectly balanced. Thanks!
 

I would say that your item is rein guide.

Thanks for the reply old digger. I am somewhat familiar with single reins guides but not this. Would it be located on a horse drawn wagon, a harness, or somewhere else?

I am thinking a one horse drawn surrey. A single tongue would fit through the center hole, and the reins would go through the two slanted holes on either side of the center. While the outer slots would have a strap going towards the front yolk or collar.
