Victorian pieces and interesting 2 piece button

Two hunts, Two interesting sites. The first was on a house from 1830. Out with a couple new buddies i met through tnet!
Found these two victorian pieces. One looks like a pendant and no idea what the second is. Looks broken so any help would be appreciated!




Second hunt on down the road at a private permission house built in 1850. First found a nice condition tombac button (which the home owner took before I could photograph it). Then this 1907 IHP followed by this two piece button nearby. Not sure of the date. Any ideas? Back mark reads "superior extra rich". Some kind of sportsmens button with a dog and a rabbit or bird in its mouth! I like it!

The Button is a mid - late 19th C Hunts Button. (Dog carrying bird)

I'm guessing the site is not 17th C, but I have an idea how it got there. Could be after great Grans spoon broke it was used as a Pipe Tamper & then lost.

Thats a great idea! I love to speculate on how the things we find got to where they did! Thats as good a theory as any. I did think right away it had to do with a pipe when I found it!

Actually now that I think of it, I am in western massachusetts where some of the first colonists lived in the 17th century. So it is possible. But it wasn't all that deep so I'd doubt it would have been in that spot for 350 years.

I really like the button probably Civil War era type button. But that spoon handle is really cool!
