Vintage canoe/fishing oil on canvas, Italian, French, 1930s-40s?

Hi friends, this one came into my hands today via a friend of mine. She knows I like art, and she called to go and pick it up. She said she bought it at a garage sale years ago, but never looked into the artist. I;m working on the signature. Does anybody recognize the work? Thanks! I appreciate everyones time and help!
