Hi all. I'm trying to determine what this pin is for. I found out the little thing on top is a n iron cross. It's a crown with a W and 1914 (presumably the date). I found it along with some old toys in the attic of a house we are restoring.

I have substantial experience with antique and Vintage jewelry. Based on the clasp construction and back marks (ges gesch. 800) I can tell you it's German, 800 silver and pre-1960 for sure.

Is this a war pin? Maybe a type of sweetheart memento?

Tjanks.

It's about 1.75" long and weighs about 3 grams.

Does not look like a war/service pin. Maybe a sweetheart or memorial pin.

Thanks Charlie. I'll look at examples of them today. Do you think first or second war?

It's definitely a WW1 Iron Cross, not an official issue piece but likely as others have said a "sweetheart pin" or a mourning pin. It's a pretty cool piece!
