I think it looks like an old "clip on" type earring, but appears to be bent and not lining up right to function now. I have found a couple of these.

A cufflink is a good idea too... good one nebenz!

Yes, definitely bent. Without the size reference, I can see what you mean Bdoo. Here's one off of an old artillery guys uniform. Sorry for the lousy photo.

Actually, after having examined the item more carefully I believe what you have there is a collar tack ;) :D

My two cents is cuff links and women did wear them way back then and still do on their fine clothing which is way outa my league.
