Hi everybody! I found this object inside an antique cabinet in an ancestral house we bought in Philippines way back in 1978 and kept this for quite long. Our place is famous for antique religious items brought from Spain to Philippines during the Spanish colonization.
Anybody can help me what this is?

Thanks

Looks to be a Rosary Bead Case, Impossible to tell age without some kind of markiings on the case.

Definatly a rosary bead case. Circa 1830? :D are those intials on the cross? Some research may be able to identify it with someone who owned the house in the past.

Does it open? If it does, how do you open it?

Guys...I think IHS stands for "In His Service". Great find---I love finding very unusual objects like that one. Good luck and great hunting!
