Hunted the same spot where I found the Maine button the other day. When I found the Virginia button, I couldn't tell what it was at first. I thought it had a flower on the front of it or something. Not in great shape but I'm stoked as it is my second confederate button ever. Also found the 1912 Barber dime in the same area where I found my merc the other day. Anyone know how to get the black discoloration off of it? Other finds included 1916 Buffalo, a chunk of lead, some flat buttons, a wheatie, and zincoln. Anyone know what the brass cylinder thing is? It looks familiar for some reason. Totally thought it was a large planchet large cent when I first pulled it out. What a let down.
This site is turning out to be a keeper, hunted to death or not. I hope my buddy that showed it to me doesn't kick me out.
