I know. But the person who did it didn't know what they were doing.FANTASTIC FINBDS I am UNHAPPY for you on the 1856 coin with the hole in it

ThanksNice work
Congratulations
Yes, it is.Silver is silver!! And a seated one holed or not is an awesome find!!!
The ring doesn't have any markings, but I already tested it with acid and it's 10k and the shovel was left there.Nice assortment of recoveries. Congrats
The dime certainly had the square nail hole, adds alot of character.
Nice looking ring! Any gold marks?
Now the big question are you putting a new handle on the shovel? 😊
Thank you very much, my friend.Another fine day of detecting my friend, congrats!
True, I agree, but then I look at it as I hold it and like the hole punched through it with a square nail does make some sort of connection. That somebody at some time really valued that coin so as to not lose it buy stringing it together with others. Wonder who it was that made the hole, what things what it had been spent on, how may counters had it been slid across, and who was the last person to have it until losing it, feeling the loss, 10c buying much more than today. I' overthinking it of course, but in a forum like this most of us I believe think history far more often than profit. Everything you have there such as the coins and the ring do make a personal connection in a way. Nice stuff you found there Conito@55FANTASTIC FINBDS I am UNHAPPY for you on the 1856 coin with the hole in it
