1652 XII Massachusetts Oak Tree Shilling

I went to a hunt in Virginia and found this. There is supposed to be a tree (oak, willow or pine) on the back but its completely worn off.
Anyone have any thoughts on how to figure out what it is?
Thanks
Jon

I don't know how this hasn't gotten more attention. These not turn up very often, and most of the time their surfaces are pretty corroded. Yours has very nice surfaces and the detail is pretty good. These used to be automatic banner material. Maybe I'm biased because I feel any Mass silver is Banner worthy, even cut coins.

How did I miss this!?!? Oh yeah, it's been busy. Amazing, simply amazing! Banner coins and a heartfelt congrats!

I agree with you. Mass silvers are pretty damn special. Just the history itself of these is worthy. Guess we will have to pull a willow tree or NE to get people's attention lol

Stopping by a coin show this morning to have some people look at it & see what they have to say about it

Perhaps it is because people keep getting bombarded with pictures of previously found examples and they subconsciously think they aren't as rare as they are? Lol.

My apologies for not responding sooner to this great coin recovery. While the condition is less than ideal, any specimen of Mass silver is a rare find. Banner or no banner, that's an awesome find.

Really awesome dream find!! I vote Banner ! Congrats and HH Enjoy !!
