Got out today for a quick hunt..
First keeper was the KG..Then I found this big lead disc..Thought it was a breast plate from the revaluationary war..Not sure what it is..Could be a wizzer toy.
Then I found the Virginia half penny..
At least thats what I believe it is.I can see a cross on the back like the coat of arms.
If any one can chime in it would be appreciated. ..Also found a silver thimble.
Thanks for looking. And thanks in advance for the help..
George

Nice finds. I also found a disc thing with similar holes at an old site no clue what they are.

THat's a whizzer wheel. A kid's toy. (and a larger than typical one).

Picture string through the holes, and then looped through the fingers.

wind it up, and then move the hands in and out from each other (spinning the disc and making a whizzing sound).

No colonial kid was cool, without one.

Not to sure its a whizzer..Its made of lead and its about 3inches big..It would knock a kid out if he hit himself with it..lol.

I was thinking it was copper (and although big, at least thin).

If it's lead, you're right... probably not a whizzer unless the kid didn't have any front teeth.

Maybe a counter-weight for something.

How come all your short hunts provide KG's? Did you try posting the disk on What Is It?

It sure seems that way huh Dave..lol

Yep, definitely a Va halfpenny - very nice!

Great finds bud! Too bad the Va isn't in better shape. They're a cool looking coin

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

Does seem rather big for a whizzer, but most were made out of flattened musket balls, so there are many made of lead.............. Attached photo is one I made from an old musket ball, using one of the ones I found as an example. Serrations were added to help make more noise.
