Virginia Military Button? [SOLVED]

Hi all,

First post, and coming all the way from the South Pacific...

Dug this button up this morning which has me scratching my head.

Has the Virginia State seal on it, complete with stylized grapevine and motto.
One-piece mold including shank, no makers mark but mold line is clearly visible

Can't find any reference or similar items on the web of trivia, so hoped someone local to Virginia might be able to ID it?

Roughly 18mm dia x1.5mm thick, not brass - appears to have more of that silvery grey cast-iron lustre to it. Was found coastal but no corrosion which tends to support cast iron as a composition.

This part of NZ was only recently inhabited, 1850ish onwards, and even in the early days people were very few and very far apart until the early 1900's when the roads arrived.

Any thoughts/leads will be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Crusader.
It was found close to and in the same layer as a confirmed Edwardian belt buckle if that's any help
Out of interest, what are 'the classic signs' here ?

Thanks.

EDIT: SOLVED - 20th Century Blazer Button. (he said, flicking it unceremoniously off the desk)
