Urban raccoons maybe cute and cuddly if raised from kits. But to exurban ranchers, breeders, chicken farmers, they're a destructive critter worthy only of eradication.

Sadly, I have to agree, and in many years past I was the "eradicator".

Animals have to eat to survive, just like us, however they are left with only whatever
they can catch or scrounge up. Local lady told me that "'coons were vicious" because they
chased and killed (+ate) one of her ducks. That's not vicious, that's just a 'coon getting a
meal from a natural food source.

Cute, yes, cuddly, no. I took that picture at about a 3' distance, and that's about as close
as I get. These are wild 'coons, not pets, and I want them to stay that way.
