I dug this yesterday. Haven't done any real cleaning yet, so it's still got some dirt. It's a VMI cadet button. It has some gold gilding left. The front has the seal of Virginia with "sic semper tyrannus" and "Cadet" on top, "V.M.I." on bottom. It's hard to see in the photo but the backmark is "R&W Robinson" banner with an eagle on top between the ends of the banner.

Nice! I would be excited to find one of those in that condition.

Awesome. I want one

Whoa. Just WHOA.

That's a treasure for sure. It's on my "must dig bucket list."

That's a special button because it's probable that whoever wore that button had STONEWALL JACKSON as their artillery instructor at V.M.I. HH, Quindy.

Lucky man. Great button!

Very nice button!! That is in awesone shape and I have seen a few dug in my day. WTG!!

Sweet button!! Please repost after cleaning.

Not the best photo, there's more "shine" in person, but I recently started cleaning it up a bit using the aluminum jelly method mentioned by BuckleBoy in his button cleaning post. Haven't done much with the back yet.

There's some damage to the button, but I'm happy with it.
