I know I haven't addressed the horizontal aspect of flight - and I have not built a prototype - but do you think I could get the power to weight ratio right to lift off?

Ducted fans, fuel in the bottom of the vertical tube - where one human stands (sorry for the crappy artistry!)

Marc, I have been interested in VTOL aircraft for many years. Several year ago, I visited the Moller Aircraft facility in California.
