Thanks, I have been stopped twice by park employees stating that “I could get in trouble for metal detecting in the park. I informed them that the State Park web site showed a map on where it was Ok to metal detect. The Park employees did not know it was Ok. They were very nice when they realized it.

Well done! 🙌 Must be nice to have State Parks that allow MDing.

Holy smokes, nice job TT! I usually avoid the State Parks because of all the busy bodies but looks like you've found yourself a little hotspot. Nicely done!

Most WA state parks that have maps clearly show where metal detecting is allowed. You just need a Discovery Pass to park your car within the park. I go all the time to Water Hunt

Here is an example of the map showing where you can metal detect

Be aware, that just because WA seems to have "express allowance" , that mere silence on the issue (neither expressly allowed, or specifically dis-allowed) ALSO means "allowed". Ie.: there need not be an express allowance to do it. If it's not addressed at all, then it is like-wise not prohibited.

Such is the case for CA state parks. It's silent on the issue. So the only thing that would kick in is cultural heritage (just don't find coins older than 50 yrs. old, or be snooping around obvious sensitive monuments).

One thing I find interesting in icewing's link, is that since WA took the time to spell out an express allowance, that NOT ONCE was any limit or mention of age of coins/artifacts mentioned. It did allude to not disturbing history, but then does not indicate how old something is to qualify for that. Interesting. Ok, I don't consider mercury dimes historical or old. Do you ?

Congrats on your silvers. We can hunt some state parks here in Illinois, but it has to be by permit.

I love how you simply can't resist, Tom. Keep that info flowing man.:icon_thumright:

Awesome silver finds! :occasion14:

Great silver!! My grandparents lived in Epharta and I used to spend my summers there! Love me some Grant County!

Silver is sweet the mere possession of a piece on yourself will attract more! GO get the rest

Used to go to Ephrata as a child on our family annual pheasant hunt 30 years ago...
Nice job, 4 silvers is a tough task anywhere in Wa...I could almost guarantee you never saw another metal detectorist, for some reason MDing is not common in this state...keep a low profile and always be polite and you could have a private honey hole. Good luck

Nice finds. I had similar find not to long ago. It was super sweet.

Very few people in the park this time of year. My favorite time to detect. I try to keep a low profile, but just had to share my finds. I could not believe I found that much silver. The signals are very faint with the AT Pro. I learned a lot about finding silver this time out.

Amazing finds ... Thanks for the great post!!!!

Way da go. Nice finds.:icon_thumright:
