Hi all,
I kept thinking about this neighborhood I discovered only a few miles away, where earlier this summer I found 3 Mercs, a Benny half, a silver quarter, a war nickel and tons of wheats..I went back today driving slowly up the streets looking for my next possibility.
A couple of calls to RE agents didn't pan out, and as I was about to leave I saw these 2 guys carrying things into one of the vacant homes..they were totally rehabbing the place. I couldn't resist so I pulled over and went up to the house.
When I knocked on the screen door (the entry door was open) I heard, "C'mon in!" so I did. I told them flat out who I was and what I was interested in doing. They didn't seem to have a problem with it, but they said to make sure with the owner. They said he'd be back in about a half hour. I went to kill some time, and got a call from the very guy who owned the place (I had called earlier but no answer). I told him my plan, and he had no problem with my request.
I went back to the house and told the workers I had just gotten the OK. They said have at it.
After about 10 minutes I found a pocket spill of 5 wheats and a '51 Rosie.
Later I found an old Hong Kong made diecast plane, which is actually a World War II Japanese plane known as the Zero A6M5. It has retractible landing gear, which I thought was cool, but it's missing the prop and stabilizer.
If anyone knows the toy manufacturer of this model please let me know..
I found some other odds and ends, 9 more dimes, 2 nickels, 4 quarters and 45 pennies..all clad. The yard exhausted me so I went home to get some lunch. I plan to go back sometime soon and search the yard again.
