War of 1812 Artifact

I found this at the same site as the buckle (late 1700's) and remember seeing this type of design on artifacts featured in W & E Treasures. Is it gun furniture?
Any info on this would be appreciated.

Your info is correct. I was also told (on Findmall) that this musket type was used as a trade gun in relation to the fur trade. One detectorist found the same piece at a trade post on the Des Moines river. Quite a distance from where I live.
