So I decided not to let the fractured wrist slow me down and toughed it out for a hunt in the woods.

Found a pile of buttons, 8 of which are marked. 4 are pewter buttons with the GR cypher with crown above. I am unsure what regiment used this. I know the De Watteville Regiment used identical buttons except the regiments name was around the perimeter. The may in fact be a general service button of some type. I know they are War of 1812.

3 of the buttons are Royal Canadian Volunteers also from the War of 1812.

1 is a 47th regiment Revolutionary War button.

Found but not pictured, an 18 pound cannonball which is currently being cleaned.

I also found a handful of musketballs, a finial, a musket part (I believe for a sling), a couple of fishing weights.

A great hunt but unfortunately the condition just isn't there for the buttons...this is in part due to the face several of the buttons I actually found sitting right on top of the surface. I guess 200 years lying on the ground in the woods can do a number on anything, nevermind pewter.

No jaw dropping finds but I have no doubt I will dig a couple this fall.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys. Wish the buttons were in better condition...but pewter is pewter.

Wow...you had a REALLY good day! I love finding CW relics but sure wished I lived in an area that could produce buttons from the War of 1812. Congrats!

Yours appears to be brass? Looks pretty close but some differences between them. Thanks for sharing.

Nice button....there do seem to be some differences in the one found to the north and the one found to the south!

Great recoveries!
