Was a 1793 us large cent used in the war of 1812

I was wondering if they used us coins from the 1700s in the war of 1812. If the coins where used in the war of 1812 that's great. Hope to here from you soon.

Don't see why they wouldn't have. Soldiers had to pay for stuff somehow, and get paid as well.

Take out your pocket change and look at the dates of the coins. It would not be unlikely that you have a coin from the 60s in your pocket. That coins would be 50 years old. The answer to your question would be yes, coins from the 1700's were still circulating in 1812.

Question doesn't really make sense. What specifically are you asking?

Regarding coins from from 1793: I believe Penny Whimsy mentions that early designs were kept as curiosities and did not circulate for very long. That doesn't mean they didn't circulate. I just don't think they were circulating for 50 years, as is common in modern day.

I'm certain they would have been. To the best of my knowledge, United States coin mintage got off to a very slow start. After all, we were a brand new nation even into the 1800's. The shortage of coins necessitated the use of many foreign silvers, and even coppers.

It's a lot easier to get coins from 1804 on than the coins from the 1700s. I'm sure they were circulated, but not as widely as we may think. They only minted coinage as a country for a few years in the 1700's after the ratification of the Constitution.

The earliest American Coin Collectors were in the late 1820's and early 1830's. I remember the story of one of the first collectors. He wanted to get a coin of every denomination from the year of his birth. He was born in 1799, and couldn't figure out why he couldn't find a 1799 cent for his collection. That lead him to finding out how many were made. That started his serious collecting of coins.
