Was'nt Expecting A Woods !!!!! I Knew I Dug A Coin That Was Different
Stopped for a 2 AM hunt on the way home from work today ( since most of my best sites are on the way home and well with gas prices so high ) at the field I dug the USA button and the G.W. Inaugural in and with the shooting stars & Milky Way overhead I focused my eyes in the dark and worked patterns on all four sides of what I believe to be the center of the long forgotten home ( theres a 50' X 30' patch of ground full of foundation stones and an over-abundance of iron and pipestems / broken glass / pottery ) and worked slowly for about 3 hours.
I'm only posting the two best finds but I did dig a few crusty pewters and "generic" colonial buttonsand a thimble but my first solid ID turned out to be a strange looking coin so I just pocketed it and reached the last row and recieved another high 80's ID and dug a no date KG II ( most likely a 1749 ) so not a bad morning...but on the way home a doe ran out in front of me and my jeep took her out -"SIGH"-
Hopefull it wont go over $500 ...I HATE deer
OH ...the strange looking coin turned out to be a 1723 Woods Hibernia ! A bit toasted from the chemicals but my first none the less
Sorry if the photos are blurry..my nikon is a pos
Thanks for looking
