Got out this morning, weather was great. Found these things hunting the edges of a big soy bean field. I think the brass piece is the end of a big skeleton key. I think the carnelian piece is a wax seal? Opinions are welcome. Good luck to all. Art

Victorian era (1880's) Lady Hope ring. Cool find!

Possibly older. This one has the serpent in hand and is said to be 1790's:

Nice finds, Art. Keep pounding that place. I'll bet there is more there.

I have no idea what the meaning would be.

Back then the snake represented faithfulness and eternal love.

It would be a ring to give your lady before you leave for an extended period of time - like off to sea or war. Note Lady Hope leans on an anchor on the Victorian ring.

Good find.
Would those rings be carved in, like a seal, or be in relief ?
Yes if that is only the edges of the field there should be much more.

Thanks for the info

Just a form of neoclassical design used in wax seals (which I think this is) / rings & Brooches in the late 18th & 19th C. If it were based on a Roman Goddess, it would be described as Lady facing Right Leaning on Pillar with transverse spear & holding snake.

Very well done Art!

Nice find TA. Must been some activity around. More to come!

Love the seal, been on my want list since a buddy dug one up 10 feet from me about 11 years ago.

Beautiful find! I love seeing the old wax seals and you got a nice one.

That's just awesome.
