Weaving Needle?

I found this at a site where a weaver lived starting ~1820s. I thought perhaps it was some sort of weaving tool but maybe I'm just connecting things because I think they should go together.

I think it is brass.

Very good thought - that may be it!

I think this was the sort of design for a weaving needle I was thinking off. But the only pictures I can find are tools used for applying hair weave extensions. :D
