We'd experienced a bunch of layoffs
because of the present economy . Everybody on the shop floor that was still employed was bustin butt to keep a job .
New CEO strolled in and surveyed the activity in the area . Only one guy wasn't busy . Just leaning against the door sill watching us hustle .
Stormin' up to him the new boss demanded ,"How much do you make a week ?"
"$400", was the embarassed reply .
To make a point to the rest of us the boss whipped out a wad of bills and handed him $1600 .
"That's 4 weeks severance pay . Now , you get the 'F' out of here and never come back again !"
Turning to me as the feller exited the shop , the boss asked ,
"What was his function in this shop supposed to be ?"
"Ummm ,"I responded ,"he's the pizza delivery guy from down the street that brought our lunch ."
