I went out door knocking on Wednesday. I secured permission to hunt two yards. The first property is an 1830's log house in town on a double lot. The owner told me he detected it but I was welcome to try my luck. My first target was a small buckle and then a big hunk of brass came out. I think this guy cleaned out the stuff on the top. The Zincoln pennies on the surface are the worst targets of all. My XLT calls the 3 inches deep and they are all on top of the plug. Most targets were on the bottom of the plug or in the hole. I found silver #12, 13, & 14. The coin finds were - 1942D quarter, 1920 Merc dime, 1943P war nickel, 1866 & 1881 Indian Head cents, 11 wheat cents, 9 Lincoln cents, 1920 Cuban 5 cent piece and 4 buttons. There are not too many days when I dig more wheats than memorials. I finally thought I dug an early silver coin but it turned out to be a 1966 thin play coin made of aluminum. I found shotgun shells, rifle brass, nails, foil and a bunch of other metal stuff. I will be going back soon. Thanks for looking! DD
