Soil conditions and fertilizers will wreak havoc on coins sitting in the ground over many years.
 

Went down to the farm in Gates county
Found a some coppers ( wheat pennies and 1911 shielded nickle a button or two as well
I hate how copper comes out so ugly.....
Found this guy laying in the tall grass under a black walnut tree in the fields

After further research I believe the large coin I found is a 1773
Virginia half penny cooper

I know it's hard to see but was hoping someone could confirm
