Can't make the date on the coin but obviously not silver. Very heavy looks to be encased in lead and the band looks gold plated. Ever run across something like this?

Looks like a homemade quarter ring?

looks like a 1970 quarter that someone soldered onto an old possibly silver ring. odd

Thanks guys. Will clean it up when I get home and get a better look.

The band may have been an old pickle fork, or similar utensil.

Here are some better pics. The band definitely seems like gold to me. The only marking I could find is where the band is separated from the lead.

You may have a nice ring in that lead, If it was me and since its a 1970 Quarter I would heat up the lead and free that ring up and clean it, see what you have there!

I think I may do that Quicksilver. I was thinking the same thing.

Yes, seeing it from that angle does look rather promising!

You might want to clean the quarter also. There might be a reason someone felt compelled to make a ring out of it. Maybe a error or something?

Good point Squirrel thanks. What's your recommendation on how to clean it?
