Red on insude and thin grey shell.

Any thoughts..

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Norsco321! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

I have altered the settings thanks...

I just found the stone down the beach... cracked it open and was interested by the different material in the core compared to the shell.

First thought was ironstone concretion, but the husk makes it look like quartzite - the red is from hematite (iron oxide) either way

nope, if it looks like gold in there it's probably pyrite.
