hi all,This is site of a once deep quartz gold mine that operated between 1852- 1930.There pics of the shaft,now full of water,the piles of red hand made bricks were once a fifty foot smelter stack and out buildings.There is also pics of finds uncleaned and the regrowth in the area.Plenty of relics but no gold and only one small silver coin.these gold reefs were mined several times so its just a matter of luck if you happen to find a small piece of gold.The miners didn,t leave much.Just their rubbish

Those bricks are nice, use them in the yard or as pavers. Don't see handmade bricks often...

Hey Tinpan, nice find. Im looking back in time for clues as well. Nothing as cool as a gold mine, but a very old glass company instead. Good luck on the site, and cant wait to see what you come up with...... L8R

Love the pics Tinpan! Looks like a great site to detect. One thing is for certain regarding those old miners..They never got it all. And the relics they left behind are just too cool.

Nice pics and great finds. As Nashoba said, they never got it all. Their mining techniques were not as refined as they are today. Search the tailings pile, alot of the smaller stuff got by them, and sometimes some of the large. Great place to hunt!
