Hi all been busy and haven,t had much of chance to post my finds. Got a bit rain on the weekend and when to a site near the present day show grounds. On the corner across the road once stood a Hotel and Public Bar . Pub is correct ozzie slang name for tavern. The road leads north to highway and once a major transite road to New South Wales.

Manchester Hotel started in 1851 and was disused about the time of the first depression 1890.

Found a nice Half penny Token , La Mont Soda bottle about 7 i/2 inches long. Small ??? ??? and an English skin cream pot lid.Nearly every thing else was broken or just to far gone. Heres the finds and pic from 1867 of the Hotel

Cool Stuff!.jpg

"Ltd." on the Cherry Blossom pot lid means that it dates after 1898. Another variety of this lid bears the words, "Perfumers to Her Majesty Queen Alexandra" (wife of Edward VII, who reigned from 1901 until 1910). That may or may not mean that the lid dates after 1910, since either text would have been appropriate during her reign. Here is a Cherry Blossom ad showing the same lid, published in 1911:

So tokens are rarer than gold, LOL, I wish I had that problem! I usually find 10-20 beer tokens a year, no gold nuggets, LOL. I may go over to the gold region tomorrow, 20 minute drive and dream while I swing, some of the tailing piles there date to the 1500s, someone built a house on a huge tailing pile, I have a picture somewhere.
