Didn’t go to bed last night so of course need something to tire me out so we swinging at 7am. I was just telling my wife that all my spots or depleted, so I headed to a spot that I’ve been to around 8 times. A old Jesuit Priest lived there in the 1850’s or so. I never find anything but a counterfeit 1875 Seated Dime that was period so I always had a reality that a real one might be there (bucket lister). It’s being constructed into a high priced subdivision and to my surprise the big mounds of dry clay was now spread over 2 big lots that houses are going to be built. The orange mud was already put down and smoothed over, but they had some sections there that had the whiteish Louisiana clay with pieces of broken pottery and glass spread around. So on my second target it hit in the high 70’s so I dug. (It’s 1” ashy clay on top 2” of dry harder clay then below that moist clay), well I pulled out a square nail in the wet clay 6” deep. I checked the hole again and around it and got a hit...looking at be was a ashy white silver which I’m assuming was on top or close to it. A 1801 Mo FT MEXICO 1/2 REAL CHARLES IIII !!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! A major bucket lister my oldest coin and oldest silver!!!!! Reale #2 in 4 years. My first was a 1829 Spanish Mexican 8 Reales that I found in a sidewalk strip 3 months into detecting so this one was well earned.

Maybe one day 18th century. I’m coming down of my high so I’m going to sleep oh also got a flattened musket ball a piece of a old skeleton key. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!!!!! Thank you guys[emoji4]

Should I put it in a little lemon juice? I can BARELY make out the date. IMG_2522.webpIMG_2523.webpIMG_2525.webpIMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webp

Awesome find. Great feeling to pull a bucket lister from a site you have pounded. I'm not sure if lemon juice will bring the date out, try zooming in halfway and take another photo, maybe it will show. Congrats

Awesome! :headbang: I tried to write this earlier but my laptop wouldn't let me do anything. Really glad for you although I would rather it be me all excited about it! Congrats on the awesome silver!

Some spit and the shiny side of foil should take off the tarnish

Spanish silver is such a treat! Congrats big-time!

Congrats on an awesome find. That's a nice looking little rascal, no lemon juice needed IMO.

Well done sir.

Oh my, well done! You are unbelievably consistent. Here's to another one soon!

Sweet find, congrats. Bucket Lister for sure. Heck, I can't even get into the 1800's on silver. Been stuck at 1900 barber dime for 5 years or so.
