That is what I was thinking, too, Don: a scale weight. However, I don't recall seeing lettered scale weights before.

Could be the cup which can be placed between the end of a furniture (like a bed) leg and the floor, to save the floor from denting. I've seen similar ones in glass and metal.

Looks like a Pan weight to me. The incised 'B' looks to be added after, for some reason. It's an unofficial Weight as it has no Verification Marks.
