My mother in-law lives in Augusta, west virginia and her boyfriend told me soldiers marched in the valley behind their house and there were battles on top of the mountain. So after some good eaten, I ventured out in the valley behind their house not really expecting to find anything considering I had no clue where they had marched or anything. I found a couple modern bullets at first. I headed down to the pond and I got a pretty good signal, about a 55-60 vdi at 11 inches on the F75(thank god for the fisher) and boom, out pops a 3 ringer! And from the looks of it...may be a pulled 3 ringer. About 2 feet beside that I find a flat button. Not a bad day at all in my book! Thanks for looking and happy hunting.

The bullet was loaded as you can see the ramrod imprint on the nose Matt but there's not a screw mark on the tip is it? All pulled bullets will have a screw hole in the nose. Nice finds.
Glad to bought that F75? You'll be happier every day. HH, Quindy.

Nice finds, VOL1266-X is right, it looks to be a fired bullet it has the rifling grooves on the side as well, Very awesome! :icon_thumright:

Thanks Quindy. Why does the tip look like that? There is a "nipple" and one ring around that. What would have caused that? I figured it was fired, just thought that maybe it got lodged and it had to be pulled. Considering it was the only one I found...then with a button right next to it.

Anyone know? I'm not an expert on the variations of different bullets. Just wondering why the top looks like that, is it from being fired and that's the effect it takes on?

I would think that is from being ram-rodded into the bottom of the barrel. If it was pulled then there would not be rifling. I have a couple of pulled bullets and none have rifling on them.

Oh sorry! Quindy actually answered that for me already...misread what he was saying. Thanks guys.

Matt, there are several different kinds of ramrod tips. The "Tulip" ramrod tips seem to make the largest impressions on the tip. Yours looks strange and may just be the ramrod tip by itself due to the small size. As I always say, I do not profess to be an authority on CW relics but I have some friends who are. HH and stay after it, Quindy.

I'm taking your word for it buddy. lol I know WAY less than I should.

Sweet maybe there is more there!
