Went to the park and found a deep ball. Can’t be a mini cannon ball or could it.

I assume a cannonball would stick to a magnet, but it was 9” inches down and won’t stick to to a magnet. Any idea?

Is it fairly heavy for its size? It could be a zinc sacrificial anode. They sometimes cast them in balls for corrosion protection in pools.

You find the strangest things! I've found canister shot before but not that big. The ones I've found where iron but I think they used lead as well. Maybe Cannon ball guy can Enlighten us.
You could have something good there.

I can't see it very well but they did make them that small, we have one about that size.

Some of the Confederate cannon/cannister shot were about that size. Don't toss it. It probably is the real thing.

It’s probably just a ball of something with a hole. Damn I thought I had a cannister. Oh well some day. Uggggh

It’s weird because it was deep and if it was lead I’d think it would have patina. I did find it at another part of this park maybe it was mixed in with fill. Didn’t find anything else worth talking about. Strange
