Hi guys!
I had a great St. Patricks day with a couple great finds. My best find today i like to share with you here in the Artifacts forum. I know it's the North American section but we share the passion for stone artifacts.

We call these narrow/tall and they are dated in the Western Linear Pottery time 4500-4000BC.
Here is a pic of them laying in front of a flint scythe.

Reproduction sure. Not sure about the flint. I guess these are the real deal. They are easy to ID by the gloss on the blade from cutting crop.

I’ve seen bone shoulder blade scythes, but none with stone blades embedded.
Some of what you call tall narrow, we would call a chisel. Something wider with similar bit would be a Celt.

The flint blade scythes are well known here. You find the flint blades often as they fall off during work. They were attached using birch pitch. They look like a broken blade first but you can ID them by one half as knapped, the other side glossy from use.

We just call them Adze. Adze tall/narrow and wide/flat. Always made out of rock. Most were beautiful polished but left gloss in the field. Thanks for explaining chisel/celt! :notworthy:
Here is a pic of a (broken) wide/flat out of my collection.

Here is an axe still polished, probably fresh on top in a ploughed field.

Thanks Sir. There are better ones out there but we have problems to get them... :tongue3:
A couple years ago European Union changed laws and now all fields have to be planted over winter to fight erosion. Mostly done with green manure. So there is only a small window to look for artifacts in late winter, early spring when the green manure is ploughed before crops come in.

The bit you are showing is that of a Celt here. An adze has a bit that is curved, not straight across.

Really nice finds , those are a rare item to find in my area , do you also find stone points / blades as well ? Would love to see them If you have

The top piece is an adze. You cant see the curved bit well. The polished one is an axe.

I have axes, blades, scrapers, drill bits but not a single point. These artefacts represent the first farmers, starting shortly after the last ice age. Most i find is late stone age, so 4-5000BC, older is rare in this area and with that points are rare too. If i find a point some day it likely will be an ice age hunters point what will make it 12000 years old.

I'll make some pics tomorrow.
Good night folks!

Those are some very nice relics.

These are all field finds?

I made some pics for you.

First is my personal fave adze. Made of Granite. We have no granite here, so it was traded a long long way. It's used and has clear use marks. Most common are the wide/flat types.

You see all are made of rock contrary to the axes made of flint.
Two polished axe heads

Here different blades for comparison
Broken "knife" blades, top and bottom part.

Skythe blades, almost look like middle parts of knife blades.

Here i tried to show the gloss from working, doesn't worked very well, but you get the idea.

I'm confused....I don't see any pics? At all? Did they get deleted?
