What a waste of a PROOF

Was going through a dime box last night, after about 40 rolls an old 1957 Rosie pops up. Then two rolls later this little beauty shows a white rim, very sharp edges, thought it to be a foreign, but turns out to be a 1962 Proof Rosie. Although it's a proof, but somewhat stained, still wondering what a waste it was to open a proof set, only to dispose of unwanted coins into the wild. Debating as to keep it with my other proofs, or put it in the silver stack. Pics to show (4):

Probably some kid or a criminal, I doubt a collector would have dumped it. Most families wouldn't bust up a proof set either because of perceived value. Someone got into dad or grandpa's coin stash for candy (sugary or otherwise)!

I found a '64 proof the other day as well. It was pretty beat up so in went in my stack. I've found a '62 proof and a '01 silver proof which were in great shape and went in flips. I agree with accordselux, kids or criminals

I always put the proofs in a flip holder. Some are just in better shape than others.
