What if I could travel back in time? Or if only my "experiences" could travel back and fill my youthful head with everything I've ever learned? I was born in 1960.

OK, first plan, traveling back and trading all my change for silver won't work...they'll see the dates and lock me up.

I can see myself as a kid of four trying to earn money (change). And burying it to dig up in 2010.

Then there is the biggest problem, no matter which way I plan it...those candy counters in the dime store will get me everytime. Or the toy section. I realize, I want my dime store back. Either Wilson's or Tillman's, I don't care.

New plan, I travel back in time and bury the whole dang dime store and dig it up in 2010. Old lady clerks, everything. Everything but the sewing section, well...everything.

Closing my eyes and remembering now...after school, 1966, turn right onto main on my way home. Walker's clothing, Walker's shoes. Some ladies dress shop. First National Bank. Alley. Tillman's...better candy, sometimes mean old ladies. Two more clothing stores. Necker's Jewelry...cool old sign of a diamond ring. Wilson's...then one more...or was it Necker's on the corner?

I can almost remember...I can almost see their faces...5 cent giant taffy, banana flavored, wax pop bottle six packs...the point was you got a sweet taste of thick nectar, and could chew the wax like gum....I can almost go back, if I close my eyes.

Funny you should post this story. Today while riding around with my friend, I mentioned that I wish we were sometimes able to take another path and see what the outcome would be. When I was in my early 20's in 1973, people in my office were always saying that I should have been a stand-up comic. The whole office was willing to go to Caroline's in NYC to watch me perform on amateur night. Funny thing was back then I was too shy to go on a stage in front of people, but lost that shyness a few years later.

That's odd

People are always trying to get me to try an amateur comedy night routine. I'm not afraid to try, but it would have to be far enough out of town where I don't run into people afterward.

I love to tell a good joke . Some say I tell them well and I enjoy sharing the entertainment with them . I love to cook and share good food with friends as well .
If I had to do either on a daily basis and feel that I had to meet the same quality standard every day
I would come to hate the drudgery in a short time .

I still joke on a daily basis, so much so, that few will ever take me seriously ;D I just can make up a story on the spot, that is usually entertaining once I get to the punchline. Sometimes there is no punchline and I just leave them scratching their heads.

For me a great day is walking up to someone you don't even know and say, "didn't we go to different schools together?".

Yup AP, I was shy when I was younger. No one today would ever believe that I had a shy day in my life, so I try not to thing of them now :icon_thumleft:
