I have alot of these flakes that all seem to have a base or figer hold. All seem to be flakes but some have secondary flaking on them. All have a snap base on them and they come in all varieties of stone that I find points made of. I was thinking knife inserts but I need some advice.

Bulbous Percussions knocked off a Core Stone.

Just part of the Process!

If they came out good enough, they could be used as bird points or others.

Some of those puppies are Sharp!

I know a place that is loaded with them.

The banded rhyolite one is worked on both side like a point. Guess they found a use for that one. Do all flakes off a core have that part that looks like a snap base? If so I gotta lot of flakes. HAHA

I agree with HF, the fields I used to hunt were full of those, especially the banded blue rhyolite.

thanks homefries and molly.

LOL! I tried Knapping some one time.

All I did was hit my thumb a pile of times and ended up with Scatta!

Those old boys could knock off more then a few good points in a hour or so.

Some of those were Toss outs that didn't make Muster.
