Treasure in Florida? Are you kidding? Probably one of the highest places for treasure. Especially since it was such a large area for ship wrecks, look up Mel Fisher's find of the Atocha. Or look up any of the lost pirate treasure legends. And St. Augustine was one of the first if not the first settlement in Florida. Don't forget the Civil War treasures supposedly lost too. Hitting the beaches after a storm almost always brings up stuff from the wrecks.

Florida is detected out - Nothing left! Time for all Floridians to find another hobby!!!

All the parks around me are littered with trash everywhere. The beaches are pretty clean with good targets but I have to drive 45-50 mins to get there

Lol. I have to side with TheRingFinder. Born and raised in Florida, I have found little in the way of treasure. Having said that, I have found some neat stuff. Mostly things like jewelry, buttons, and odds and ends. Mostly in parks. The beaches are also good though I've never had any luck there. There are many places available where no permission is needed making it easier to do some detecting. It's still fun to detect in Florida because you never know what you may turn up. Enjoy.

Let's see. In Florida there are suntans, tropical breezes, Margaritas and extremely hot Latinas. Oh yeah, there's also 500 years of treasure, personal items and pretty much anything else you can imagine. Decide on a place, grab the detector and just go hit it. The beaches and boondocks, not the margaritas and latinas dad. You just can't miss.

Well, beyond jewelery, there are old war artifacts... remember the Spanish were here as well as the British. I met someone who found musket parts, slave shackles, a huge skeleton key, cannon balls, all sorts of stuff out in the woods.

The difficult part is finding the places which are not a) protected and b) developed

I talked with a guy who had a nice set up selling old coins etc at the Okeechobee Fl flea market. He had been MDing for a long time in FL and had found some really cool stuff. Pretty much anything you could think of, old coins, military buttons, jewelry etc. Most of his stuff was in very good condition too.

Not only first settlement in Florida... but ALL of North America.

lets see --I find civil war relics * and I find other "interesting" finds as well -- of course once in a while a bit of jewelry at the beach areas ..and of course the common clad coins --the older silver coins are hard to find and a gold coin --yah buy a lotto ticket --better odds ... its a fun hobby but don't think its a "easy" get rich quick deal...

I agree plus some Indian Wars items. I am not getting rich, either !

Wife and I are going fishing for a week in FL-----------------Yes, by all means, I am taking my 1265X, you betcha.
The second girl in the bikini probably lost a Ring and I may find it. LOL

I'll trade the west coast pull-tab Mecca for a hunt on a Florida beach any day!
