After detecting yesterday we decided on McDonalds. The order came to 15.03. I gave her a 20 and said wait, I have three cents. She said she already put the 20 into the computer!!

I told her no problem, just give me a 5 back. SHE had to get a MANAGER! I almost died laughing inside. Do computers = not allowed to think?? I left the place laughing and a bit shocked. Oh I did get my 5.00 bill after the manager approved it.

Anyone else have a funny change story?

Not sure if you have a "WaWa" in your area...

They never have change for a 100...
On a 3 dollar sale...
They will hand you back 97 in ones and fives. :/

Which is really retarted... BEINGs,,,
Their excuse for no large bills is because of robbery...

Have you ever been in one of these places ?...
They are lit up and populated like the Super Bowl...
Always a cop or three in the parking lot / inside getting coffee.

I mean its the last place on earth someone would think of robbing.
Yet they keep no change.

It is a fiasco ... manager must be called... line is held up etc etc.

They act like OMG that guy has a hundred dollar bill... what do i do ?

Heh.

Why would you give a $100.00 bill for a $3.00 item .. ???????? I always make sure i have some 5 and 10 dollar bills on me when i go out ...

Ask the people in front of me. :P

Same story but worse?
I was at Publix (grocery store) my total was 38 something. I handed the cashier a 100 dollar bill, but she had mistakenly put in $50 as my cash... She would not believe me just to give me an extra $50 back, So she asked her supervisor, who could not figure it out, nor could the assistant manager, I also had to get the store manager. BUT SERIOUSLY 3 other people responsible for handling cash could not figure this out before getting the manager?!**^%!

I sometimes miss these ----- thHPRY9NKW.webp

Reminds me of the Sinbad skit on McDonalds workers.

My dad was in his local pharmacy a couple years back (before his death). He went to the checkout. There were 2 college students working. The total (if I remember right) came to $12-something. He handed them a $20, expecting $7 and change. The checker had their trusty calculator, but couldn't seem to figure it out. So they asked the next checker - also a college student. They, too, could not seem to figure it out using THEIR calculator! So then they call in the asst. manager - a "college graduate"! This person tries to figure out the change using a 3rd calculator and comes up with yet another answer - none of them right!

My dad (in his late-70's at the time and riddled with cancer) told them the amount of change off the top of his head like it was nothing. Took him about 5 minutes to lay the money out on the counter and to "teach" these kids how to count!

...Wish I could say that this is a rare circumstance. The one above is the most humorous I have heard, but wife and I see it all too often. People depend too much on calculators and computers, not even taking into account if they hit a wrong button/key along the way. They just want to accept the display amount regardless of how ridiculous it may be.

Make a mental note of the last 3-4 numbers of the SN on the Franklin before you give it to someone.

PS, all they teach in public schools now days is re-written History that didn't happen that way IMO.

Teachers in every state are having to "teach the test" in order that the school, the district and the administration look good. The goal is to make sure that the students do well on the state tests and eventually graduate. Math teachers have it the worst. They are forced to leave things out at all levels and another problem, at least in Texas, is the shortage of educators. There are people teaching today who are just not trained very well. My world got rocked when after several years of teaching Chemistry, I was made a TAKS and then Star (our current and previous test)test reviewer. They called it Taks Science Review. I couldn't escape so I eventually retired. Someone else did Taks Math and so on for each part of the test. I figure that is happening everywhere. Add to that that cash registers do the work for you and you have some poorly trained folks out there. Solution? Maybe we all need to start carrying our finds or collections with us and pay in EXACT change. But of course you know what the goal is? Carry that plastic with you and just swipe it. It's so much kinder to those McDonald's cashiers.

Well it isn't common sense they're teaching.
I'm doing my part to educate them, I take my clad in and pay with it, at lest they actually have to count it to make sure it's all there.
The farther ahead we go, the behinder we get....

You mean it is the people in front of you is at fault that made you give a $100.00 bill for a $3.00 item..??????

McDonalds ... Crossett, Arkansas ... Didn't have enough halves to roll up after going through the last roll at the bank, so started spending them. Went to the aforementioned McDonalds and the cashier accused me of trying to pass "foreign money", and yes the manager was called. Just plain stupid. While waiting, I asked her if she'd ever heard of John F. Kennedy.

So, the answer to the question you posed though is "NOTHING". They are teaching kids NOTHING of any value in an ordered society.

... and these kids believe they are worth $15.00 an hour?

My American History teacher always told us ... "You cannot enslave an educated populace."

Beer, $10.63 in a grocery store in PA.

I handed the young lady a Ten, a Kennedy Half, a Dime and three Pennies.

She asked me a couple of times what the Half was worth. Finally called a manager.

After he explained it to her she was utterly stumped as to where to put it. No place in the cash drawer for it. She was in college.

I always carry, and spend half's. It's a load of fun.

I used a presidential dollar the other day, had to get a manager (fast food) to prove it was actually worth a dollar.

Wow, Lots of interesting experiences here.

I heard about two counterfeiters that decided to make 18.00 bills. After some thought they decided to try a back country store in Vermont to pass one. After making a purchase with a regular bill one of the men asked the proprietor if he had change for an 18? The owner said sure, what would you like, two nines or three sixes?

Anyway, I hope it doesn't get much worse. At least they have their computerized registers to do all the work for them.

Chadeaux wrote, "My American History teacher always told us ... "You cannot enslave an educated populace.""

That depends entirely on both the quality of education and the agenda of the educator(s).

Want to REALLY mess with someone? Try spending a Susan B. Anthony!! :dontknow:

Yeah, these kids nowadays are a bunch a dummies for sure

A guy I knew showed a stripper a million dollar bill that was actually a business promotion for some car lot.

He had a blast for awhile... king of the club... till she was told that it was not real.

Only took her an hour to figure it out. heh

See, I do not agree with this.

Your $3 purchase is typical in wawa. Most people do not pay with any bills larger than a $20. Wawas DO get robbed. All the time. The no large bills policy has been in effect for as long as I can remember and it is there for a reason. If you pay for a $3 tab with a $100 bill then that is on you.
