I dug my first couple of colonial coppers today. One appears to be completely wiped, but I think I see a bust on the other one. Do any of yall know what variety of large cent this is??

If you click the picture, it won't be sideways.

My area of expertise is limited to pull tabs and bottle caps but IMHO I think you have a “matron head” large cent (1793-1857). I could be wrong, I usually am (just ask my wife).

MKW, Semper Fi. What part of S.C. are you from? I meant to add, Congrat's on the nice save of the coin.

Semper Fi! I live in Murrells Inlet, SC. But, I was born, raised, and lived 42 years in GA. Moved here from Tifton, GA.

Interesting and old find. What does the other side look like? Congrats!

Colonial Coppers ,,,congratulations try to get back

Hello, about a year ago I bought the Andres pencils. Used them on several crusty coins, and they really took the old rust off. You may want to give that a try. Good find !

I’ve only found heartbreakers here in New England... too corroded for an accurate ID. Sure is frustrating.
