Probably iron. If you have multi-tone, let any low tone barks sink in to your brain..IRON. Move on. Try to avoid the screen. Use your ears at first. Keeping your eyes off the screen and your ears on the audio response is the most difficult task for new tectorists and old tectorists with new tectors.

That sounds like a classic rusty bottle cap.... Being a newbe, dig it... that's how you learn!!!!

Your ability to pinpoint the target and recover it will tell you much more than any of us can.

But then again, that's pretty much what it always means.

Only your digging tool can enlighten you once you've started swinging the coil.

why true it MAY and probably is iron, it also might be a coin AND a nail.......this has happened to me many times

Jumpy signals usually means trash.

Emphasis on "usually"!

With my AT pro, a signal jumping through all 3 tones = bottlecap

One more observation on this type of signal. If the display is bouncing mostly between coin indications with some trash indications it's always worth digging as just often enough to be worth checking it'll turn out to be a coins spill. My experience has been several times out of five or six it'll be several or more coins of different denominations close together. So if there's any doubt, dig to be sure.

Good advice....coin spills do give jumpy signals.
