Hi All,
Went to the Florist to order some bouquets, and was told it would be an hour or so before they were ready,
so...
I donned my boots and got down to the mud,
picked a few large brass plumbing pieces for the recycle,
a memorial cent worn to a square profile,
piece of a brass brooch or pin,
and a nice toy lead elephant.
A good hours work,
Elephant Token is next :laughing7:
HH to all

Time well spent Herbie!! Wish I could find a big CW bullet carved like that elephant. HH, Quindy.

Good job Herbie. I like the elephant. :icon_thumright:

One good keeper like that elephant in an hour defeninetly makes it time well spent doing what you want to do anyways ! I would guess it's early 20th century or a bit earlier ? Nice display piece ! MaineRelic

is there a hole in its trunk? -- if so it might be a "smoker" type toy --a lit paper mini cigarette went in the rear end hole and smoke would come out of its trunk --if it is one of them. -- :icon_thumright:

OK, everybody say it with me. . . HERBIE LIVES TO HUNT!

How many guys actually go to a florist . . . "to order some bouquets, and was told it would be an hour or so before they were ready, so..." and then decide to go detecting while they're waiting for their flowers! :laughing7:

How do get away with that kind of stuff anyway Herbie? :icon_scratch:
My wife would kill me if I did that! :laughing7:

Take care buddy,
Dave

It's simple Dave, YOU DON'T TELL HER!! :laughing9:

You Da Man Herbie :laughing9: :laughing9:  :icon_thumleft:. Dig when you can, where you can . Good finds mate ;D.

remember most folks only know what you tell them --so if it might get you in hot water --shut up already * -- as the mob says --never confess to ANYTHING --- make them PROVE their case against you.

remember elephants do not ever forget a evil done to them (and so do most wives)

fine use of "down" time I'd say -- when I have to drive my wife to some of her doctors visits (which she insist I drive her to since she hates to drive ) --I in return rather than just wait "in the office" at several of them go to nearby spots and metal detect for the office visit time --when done she rings & I come to get her . :icon_thumleft:

Now why would someone toss the elephant out in the mud ??? nice save ! Sounds like your detector and boots are always accessible ..

Thanks for All your replies
My boots, detectors & extra Batteries (and clothes) are always packed ;D
Never know when you'll get a few minutes to detect :icon_sunny:
Where I work, I'm never more than a minute or two from a site.
I think these urban/residential tidal flats were previously more attractive to swimming & recreation than they are today, lead toys are one of the more common finds here.
there is usually a layer of mud over sand, gravel, or clay. Maybe 100 years ago, they were nice beaches for children(and adults) to play.
No hole in this one's trunk Ivan :P
I generally don't 'tell all' about my detecting habits, it's all in a Days Work :laughing7:
HH to All!

Love that elephant...Congrats!!

Cheers
