What exactly is a "wilver"???

Ok, I'm kind of new to MD'ing, having my detector for about a year now, but I read a lot of posts about these wilver things. When there are pictures along with the descriptions it appears that the "wilvers" look a lot like silver coins. How do you tell the difference between a wilver dime and a silver dime? At one time I thought that the term "wilver" meant a signal that indicated a copper wheat cent but when actually dug up it was really a silver coin instead. I'm really confused, maybe someone will take pity on my ignorance and clue me in.
Thanks Bros

Re: What exactly is a "wilver"???

wilver = silver a key board typo that "caught on" with certain people -- w being right above s on the keyboard --- coppa is metal detector "slang" for an old colonial copper coin -- hope that helps

Re: What exactly is a "wilver"???

It's a slang word for silver that a couple nerds from PA came up with. ::)

Same goonie brothers call copper "coppa". ;D

Re: What exactly is a "wilver"???

it's wild silver. can be elusive and hard to catch. that is why we hunt it and take it home and make pets out of it!

I guess those couple of nerds would be "The Three Datectateers," the originators of coppa and wilver. ::) :tard:

Thanks for the kind comment, you looney biscuit boy.

Re: What exactly is a "wilver"???

And I think it is time to put wilver to rest. For people like me that know nothing about coins it can be very confusing.
