what headphones are you using with the Vaq?

I use Killer B's on my Vaq and all other detectors.
Love those things.
The full response, the quiet arena I listen to those tones in so I can hear the quieter ones and get more info about depth because the modulation seems better.
Keeps my ears warm on cold days and for me actually not too bad on the hot ones.

Thanks..!!

Same as you buddy!!
I don't use the limiter much because it makes all depth targets sound the same.

They are awesome headphones.
They sound crystal clear and snappy.
The cable is great too.

be sure to send the warranty paper in...

Mister Smith, the maker of the Killer B's wants that warranty info on file before doing a warranty repair. Just thought I'd mention it. I had to send mine in a few weeks ago to repair an open in the cable, near the plug. They were fixed and returned promptly, but I needed to send a copy of my purchase receipt with the warranty paper, 'cause I hadn't done it within the alloted timeframe.

Send in your warranty info!

thanks for the heads up on the warranty.

I sent mine in, but who knows if they received it lol

Keep the threshold hum set just low enough so you can still barely hear it before flipping over to the discriminate mode. When I have mine set up that way, I can still hear enough of the modulation of the audio response to be able to tell the depth of the target. If set up properly, you can tell the depth without getting your ears blown off. The 'limiter' just limits the amount of loudness, not the audio modulation.
