chef,I use BlackWidow, seperate volume controls,a switch to let you kill those really LOUD signals, plus their high impedance,150 ohm, good for higher frequencies, would NOT hunt without them!!! God Bless Chris

You almost need two pair. One for the Summer and the other pair for the other three seasons.
I think quality headphones for detecting are an absolute must.
Comfort is a big part of it. Quality pads with dual volume control.

I use RAT MSA brand. No longer made. Quality sound w/ replaceable cord.

Any brand from Detector Pro are good. Sunray Golds are very good.

I wipe the pads down with a silicone solution to keep them from cracking from my sweat.

goodmore< Never concidered the silicon!!THANKS!!!!!!! They do get rather HARD!

Black Widows for serious work. Rattler for the rest; whish is 90% of the time.

Having one ear "open" is a comfort to me. Cooler in the sun as well.

I too use the Black Widow headphones for the quality of the sound. If you can't hear the tiny whispers, you can't dig the oldest coins. Grey Ghosts are fine too. Try to find a local dealer to try them on and then buy from him.

I use: AUVIO 33-283 2.4GHZ DIGITAL WIRELESS HEADPHONES

the perks are:
not bluetooth, a 2.4 frequency, so no delay...
both the headphones and transmitter are rechargable and can be charged at same time with the split cord...
no wires to ever get tangled!...
all I added was the 1/8th to 1/4 adapter ($5 at Walmart) so can plug into any detector...
20+ foot range. I put my detector on the ground, walked over to my car, and still heard my detector...
doesn't interfere with detector. Used on my F2 and ETrac...
get about 13-15 hours off a full charge (that's a whole day of T-hunting for sure!)
UNDER $100 for the whole set up!

Here's a couple pics. One in my Etrac the other of the headphones and transmitter...

Radio Shack doesn't carry anymore in stores so have to get them online. Got mine on Ebay for about $75 or so...

They are well made and I like how the AUVIO logo blinks when charging and shines steady when charging is done.

My back up headphones are my KOSS... got them with my ETrac...

I just ordered some Rattler's about 10 minutes ago. I found myself always sliding one side of my current headphones off of one ear so I could hear what was going on around me so I figured it's about time to get the real deal. I'm looking forward to using them this year.

I use BLUETOOTH from AIRHEADZ WIRELESS and they are great
