I’m thinking an attachment on a gun for a sling, but it’s turned the wrong way I would think the little square loop would be on the same plain as the round one

This was in the same hole I have to believe they are related

Lastly this was near by, thought maybe it was a button but after getting the dirt off I don’t know

I also found the trigger of a gun and a ramrod holder in the same area, the site is a native trade era site I’ve got dated around 1830

The first one is a gag swivel off of a horse harness, and the second is a harness buckle. The third is the remains of a stud-style work clothes button.

I’m guessing by the two quick ids that’s a common misidentification but these are why I was thinking gun, oh well 2 of 5 on gun parts isn’t bad.
