What metal do you think this is?
I'd say it looks like part of an old gas torch but that is a wild guess...

looks like an aluminum permanent rod for doing hair or aluminum hair roller

Well if it's aluminum it could be a curler or it could be the core of an oil filter? HH

I believe it is aluminum, and a hair roller makes sense but I would expect it to be perfectly round. It is not and I don't believe it has been flattened.
